Get
an insider's perspective while volunteering as an AAAS Student Session Aide.
Students will work closely with the AAAS administrators to ensure that the
meeting runs smoothly. The AAAS meeting is a great opportunity for students to
see that the scientific community extends far beyond their campus boundaries.
At various events, students can listen to and meet a range of interesting
people, including leaders in numerous scientific disciplines, Nobel Laureates,
popular authors, government leaders (including, in previous years, the
President, the Vice President, the Secretary of State, the U.S. Surgeon General,
and leading officials at NSF), as well as radio and television personalities.
On the whole, the AAAS meeting is an exciting opportunity for science and
policy-minded undergraduate and graduate students to be immersed in the world of
science as it plays out at the national and international levels. For students
applying as Session Aides, a completed Student Session Aide registration form
may be submitted in lieu of paying registration fees (subject to space
availability in the Student Session Aide program). You must be a college
sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student to apply as a Student Session
Aide. AAAS reserves the right to rescind registration for anyone found not to
meet this criteria.
Student Poster submissions, as well as Student
Session Aide applications, must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. PT on Thursday,
October 16, 2008. Meeting registration fees, if applicable, must be paid
by Tuesday, November 4, 2008 to be included in the Poster Book.
